Zinc Plating

Zinc plating is used to prolong the life of your product and protect it from corrosion. We usually deposit between 8-12 µm of zinc in our 8ft fully automatic zinc line; we can of course work with clients if you require more/less deposit. We then passivate (which also provides corrosion protection) with either Clear, Colour or Black, as specified by you.

We have changed our passivates to more environmentally friendly products and can offer all our passivates as RoSH compliant, we offer ELV 1500 Iridescent trivalent Chromium, ELV Clear & Black.

Please note, we can provide traditional colour passivate (hexavalent) if this is still your requirement.

Electroless NickelElectroless nickel is not like conventional nickel plating, this finish is achieved by a chemical reaction rather than an electrical current being passed through.

Electroless nickel plating is very hard wearing, it provides very good corrosion protection and will give an even uniform finish all over. Holes, inside tubes, slots, threads, blades/fins will all have the same thickness of nickel as say the outside of the part.

We only use environmentally compliant Electroless Nickel here at JSJ; the products we use are Cadmium and Lead free (restricted products under ELV Directive and RoHS).

ElectropolishingWe provide electropolishing of Stainless Steel, we mainly work with grades 304 and 316 and also provide pickling and passivating that goes side by side with this finish.

Electropolishing is a reverse current process that removes rather than deposits. It is run at between 8 - 15 volts and works by passing a direct current directly through the anodically connected part jigged in our electropolishing vat. This process removes contamination and debris from machining, welding and mechanical polishing, it smoothes edges and corners and it improves surface reflectivity. Achieving better corrosion resistance; parts are easier to clean, with lower build up and bacterial growth. Pickling and Passivation will remove discolouration from welding, ferrous contamination and clean to extend the life of products

Alocroming, also known as alodining and chromating, is a process that will not only provide a corrosion-resistant protective coating, but will also serve as an excellent primer for painting.

Although pure aluminium oxidises with the air to produce its own protective coating, untreated alloys of aluminium offer little protection against corrosion, requiring a protective coating. This is processed on our 8ft semi auto line.

Bright Dipping copper and brass alloys is an acid based chromate conversion coating used to protect and add shelf life to the base material.

The parts are first cleaned to remove the oil and dirt that may be on them from processing and manufacturing. After the parts are cleaned, the parts are then processed with the acid-based chromate conversion coating.

The film that forms adds shelf life and prolongs future tarnish and corrosion to the base material. We can ether rack or barrel plate this deposit in our 3ft vats.

The tin-plating process is used extensively to protect both ferrous and nonferrous materials. Tin is a useful metal for the food processing industry since it is non-toxic, ductile and corrosion resistant. It provides sacrificial protection for copper and non-ferrous metals.

Tin is also widely used in the electronics industry because of its ability to protect the base metal from oxidation thus preserving its solderability. We can ether rack or barrel plate this deposit in our 6ft plus vats.

Anodising is an electrolytic process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of aluminium parts.

Anodizing increases resistance to corrosion and wear. Aluminium parts can be dyed in a range of colour after anodising but before the parts are sealed. This process is only for rack processing in our 6ft plus vats.

Electro plating of nickel onto metal objects is widely used for decorative and engineering applications, providing corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Its deposit is mirror bright and has a smooth finish. It is commonly in contacts and connectors. We can ether rack or barrel plate this deposit in our 6ft plus vats.

Iridite NCP is an environmentally safe, chrome-free passivation treatment designed specifically for aluminium and its alloys. It applies a highly corrosion-resistant conversion coating ideally suited to be painted or left as a stand-alone corrosion resistant barrier. Here at JSJ Finishing we have an 8ft process vat.
